Train to Tomsk

Text written in: English

The train to Tomsk from Moscow takes 3 days. We get a 1st class cabin, best decision we've made so far, unexpectedly lunch is included, they bring us meat and a bottle of vodka on the first day! Dan does remarkably well with the vodka and we spend the rest of the day sleeping, reading, playing cards and drinking cranberry vodka. We don't leave the cabin and we are never really sure what time it is.

The second day in the cabin, life is good here. They bring us beer for lunch. We leave the train when it stops to refuel and nearly miss it, we decide that the cabin is safe and warm, we will never be foolish and try to leave again...unless it's for beer, which we discover they sell in the restaurant car.

We arrive in Tomsk (named after a womble) it's in the middle of Siberia and famous for wooden houses. However Dan later finds out it is also famous for dubious nuclear waste disposal 16km up river.

This evening we're off to a pub which was opened by an Anglo-Egyptian albino after he escaped from being in a circus freak show...should be interesting...
