Round the World Trip

A few months ago we hit a little patch of exhaustion-- feeling that between our work and school schedules, things were too hectic and we could benefit from a little extended respite and quality time together. One might suggest that a vacation to Hawaii might be all that we needed but somehow our vacation musing and "what if" turned into a full-blown round-the-world trip itinerary. But we'll admit (for better or worse) that we have a history of doing things a little unconventionally given in 2003 we tied the knot after an 80 mile Himalayan trek. That trip also began with a bit of harmless musing... So we sold some stuff and are packing the remainder of our belongings in storage unit Andrea left her job and Brian took a year-long leave from graduate school. The itinerary? Well, it's deliberately loose. Our plan now is to cover 12 countries in 10 months with volunteer work planned later in the fall through early spring. But perhaps we'll slow it down, take more time in less countries, or become homesick for our cat, friends and family and be home in less time. We hope to meet new people, experience different cultures, roll up our sleeves and help local communities and have fun together over the next year. We'll try to post stories and photos regularly but with slow or non-existent internet connections, we can't make any guarantees.
